If you have a decent amount of money West Omaha or Southwest Omaha is a wonderful part of town. It’s definitely more of an expensive area full of stuck up rich people but very low crime and nice new locations for everything.

Blair Off-Road ATV Park (Blair): the area's only nearby 4x4, UTV, dirt bike, and ATV park. Nordstrom's Tree Farm: quaint Christmas tree farm. Mostly for families but they do help out with getting a tree and serve hot chocolate. Ponca Hills Farm: horseback riding, lessons, kid's parties, and summer camp.Cost of Living - one of the lowest in the nation. Employment - great opportunities with more fortune 500 companies per capita than any city in the US. I love living here. Also, Omaha rich folk have done a great job giving back to the community which has lead to continued growth and development.Not just the suburbs, but many DSM proper neighborhoods, too. For those familiar with there, I loved Beaverdale, Drake, Windsor Heights, Waveland, Waterbury, Sherman Hill. I'm crazy about nice historical homes (though we can't afford one right now). I lived in the older part of Millard for awhile and hated it.

I worry that having that open section to the south, while it will provide a picturesque backdrop of the Omaha city line, it will also diminish the atmosphere a bit.
